Dunedin – 7venth Sun Brewery

Trijit of BudgetTravelBuff

Looking for a quaint place with a cozy atmosphere to drink beer in Florida? Look no further than visit 7venth Sun Brewery. Located in Dunedin, this brewing company is one of the best breweries in Florida that you shouldn’t miss. It is a very small bar but has indoor, outdoor seating and a room for cigarette smokers, and a large collection of draft beer.

7venth Sun Brewing company has reached another level with the help of co-founder Devon Krep’s in-depth knowledge in fermentation science. They operate out of only a 3.5 barrel brew system but served the most innovative beers in Florida. They do have flights and the price is reasonable.

Dunedin is a small town and one of the cheapest places in Florida. When you are in Dunedin, you must stop here for a good batch of beer. I will highly recommend trying their Belgian-style oak-aged sour beer which is their specialties. Their service is excellent and the bartenders are very helpful and friendly.

Note: 7venth Sun Brewery also has a location in Tampa.

Fort Myers – Fort Myers Brewing Company

Annick of The Common Traveler

Located in Fort Myers, this namesake brewery has become a popular gathering place in the city and is considered one of the best Florida breweries. Open 7 days a week, there’s no better time to visit than now. Their large outdoor covered patio is even kid and dog friendly and approved.

One of my favorite things about Fort Myers Brewing Company is that there’s at least one food truck every night. Thursday nights, the brewery hosts a mini food truck rodeo where guests can enjoy a meal from one of four different food trucks. Fans of live music can find an act here on Wednesday through Saturday nights.

Fort Myers Brewing offers several different types of brews — from pale ales to porters and also small batch high gravity specials, you’re sure to find something delicious. Local favorites like Gateway Gold and High 5 IPA can even be found at local establishments. Not sure which beer to pick? Opt for a flight board, where you can select four 5oz pours for $11.

In the mood for something different? Try one of Fort Myers Brewing’s hard seltzers, Spyk’d. For those looking for gluten-free options, there’s always a cider on tap.

A visit to Fort Myers Brewing Company is a must when visiting Fort Myers in southwest Florida!

Fort Pierce – Sailfish Brewing Co.

Cortney of Tin Can Living

My husband and I visited Sailfish Brewing Co. on our last trip to Florida while seeing some family. It is a very cool establishment with tons of beer options, making it one of the best breweries in Florida. They have flights and every kind of beer you can desire. The best part of visiting this brewery is the fantastic and unique names of their drinks. They are funny and creative. I enjoyed a coffee stout that was mouth watering and my husband slurped down a sour.

We didn’t partake in any food when visiting Sailfish, but they did offer pizza that was made right on site which smelled amazing. We noticed that they advertised all kinds of fun events such as bingo and trivia nights. I wish that we had been in town longer. We would have loved to participate. It seemed like a very fun place. The staff was super friendly and the layout was inviting. The bathroom even had a rock salt hand wash that smelled fantastic. This was one of the gems of our entire visit to Florida.

Gainesville – Swamp Head Brewery

Located in Gator country, visiting Swamp Head Brewery is one of the top things to do in Gainesville. Known as Inherently Floridian, Swamp Head was founded in 2008 and proudly shows their love for Florida through their beer names and their logo.

Swamp Head Brewery has a tasting room called “The Wetlands” where you can hang out with friends, watch a University of Florida game, and drink a few cold ones. A favorite beer among most visitors is the Swamp Head Brewery Big Nose, an India Pale Ale. If you’d like to try a few beers, however, you can order a flight of beer.

Swamp Head also offers brewery tours. The tour costs $5 in cash and includes a limited edition tour pint glass filled with one of their year round beers.

Islamorada – Florida Keys Brewing Co.

Ruby of Voyage Florida

Off US1 in Islamorada, Florida Keys Brewing Company is a microbrewery that has an attached beer garden and tap room. Since it is visible on the main road in Islamorada, one can’t help but stop and go in. The inside is very colorful, with walls decorated with bottle caps, and one side of the wall is filled with merchandise one can take home. The bar has a lot of taps, and one can try a flight of beer either in the bar area or in the beer garden out back.

The beer garden has a lot of seating available, some on grass, and some on sand. Perfect for those who are looking for a relaxed vibe as one drives through the Keys. Best of all, the beer garden is dog friendly, so you don’t have to leave your pet behind.

A few beers are only available in the tap room, while a few others can be brought home in cans. Try the coffee stout, which is one of the more unique beers this microbrewery has to offer.

Islamorada – Islamorada Beer Company

Megan of MeganStarr.com

One of the best breweries in Florida is Islamorada Beer Company located in Islamorada in the Florida Keys. This brewery is a perfect stop on a road trip from Miami to Key West and an ideal place to stock up on some beer for your trip.

The Keys’ brewery is the only brewery on the islands that also doubles as a distillery.  They have a food truck called Spanky’s Kitchen to cater to hungry patrons and a beer garden to enjoy the lovely Florida sun while you sip on a Sandbar Sunday, one of their most famous beers.

Their portfolio is 60 beers deep currently and they offer flights in-house.  In addition, they also have a ‘swag shop’, where you can purchase branded goods to take home as a souvenir.

Definitely don’t miss out on their Key Lime Hibiscus Ale, a tart and colorful beer or their Floriday’s Tropical Pale Ale, an APA with subtle notes of citra and simcoe hops.

Note: Islamorada Beer Co. has two locations these days – one in the Keys and the other in Fort Pierce.

Miami – Veza Sur Brewing Co.

In the heart of the popular Wynwood neighborhood you’ll find Veza Sur, a brewery with true Latin flair. This hip and cool brewery has a fun and relaxed vibe. We loved the décor and could have sat there for hours while sipping our drink.

Although they obviously have many great tasting beers, they are also known for their beer cocktails. During our visit, we had their Shoot The Moon, which was made up of Guava Berliner Weisse mixed with fresh Florida citrus, house brewed Campari, and mint. It was delicious!

Coming Soon: Miami, especially the Wynwood area, has many more breweries. We plan to write an article solely on Miami breweries, so stay tuned for that!

Naples – Bone Hook Brewing Co.

Lori of Naples Florida Travel Guide

Florida has its share of awesome breweries and one of the best is Bone Hook Brewing Company, one of the best breweries in Naples, Florida. With a large airy taproom and dining area that’s open to the brew tanks, Bone Hook is a great place to enjoy a few award winning brews and have some tasty and creative food.

All of Bone Hook’s beers are brewed right on the premises. If you want to know more about their delicious beers and the brewing process, book a 20-minute tour with one of the brewmasters.

Not sure what to order from their broad selection of craft and seasonal beers? Try sampling a few with a flight of four 5 ounce pours for $10. Their Steel Cut Stout is a very drinkable oatmeal stout, and South of South, their Belgian-style witbier, is a local favorite. On some nights you can sip to live music or just enjoy something refreshing on a warm southwest Florida night when the garage doors are open.

Great beer, great food, and huge flat screen TVs in an open friendly atmosphere make Bone Hook a Naples’ favorite.

Ocala – Infinite Ale Works

Another of the best breweries in Florida is Infinite Ale Works. They have over 30 craft beers and ciders on tap and you can purchase a flight of four Infinite Ale Works Brews for $10. We enjoyed spending time in their tap room, which was a fun and relaxed place to hang out. They have both indoor and outdoor seating.

Besides beer and ciders, Infinite Ale Works also has a small lunch menu and live music on Fridays and Saturdays. This makes visiting Infinite Ale Works one of the many fun things to do in Ocala.

Oakland Park – Funky Buddha Brewery

Heidi of HeidiSiefkas.com

I’m not sure what I like better about Funky Buddha: its killer designs, catchy beer names, or the beers themselves. Ok, let’s face it. Funky Buddha has award-winning beers and awesome vibes. Whether you come to the brewery in Oakland Park, Florida (just North of Fort Lauderdale) or find its beers near you with its beer locator, you’ll be surprised and delighted by the creations or better said masterpieces.

Brewery tours are $8, which includes tasting four different beers. My Funky Buddha favorites include: No Crusts, a brown ale, which takes you back to your childhood PB&J sandwiches, and the award-winning, Maple Bacon Coffee Porter (OMG! So good!). If you are not interested in a tour, but a flight and/or a pint, you can do that too. The brewery has an in-house restaurant with yummy grub to pair with everything funky on tap or in a bottle/can. Sanford – Dees Brothers Brewery

Located in East Central Florida, the charming town of Sanford is just 30 minutes north of Orlando. There are a lot of fun things to do in Sanford, and one of them is visiting the many breweries in town. Our favorite is Dees Brothers Brewery. It is Sanford’s newest brewery.

If you’d like to taste a few of their craft beers, you can get a flight starting at $11, depending on the beer you get. They also have food, free arcade games, and live performances on weekends. They also pride themselves in having the comfiest lounge area you can find in Sanford!

St. Augustine – Dog Rose Brewing Company

Known as the “Nation’s Oldest City,” St. Augustine has a rich history. But besides an impressive fort, wineries, and chocolate, St. Augustine also has a great Brewery called Dog Rose Brewing Company. Located just a few blocks from the city’s historic district, Dog Rose brews all of their ales and lagers on site.

Dog Rose also has a large and spacious tap room with a beautiful handcrafted Ambrosia maple bar, shuffleboard tables, and professional dart boards. We really enjoyed spending the afternoon there and sampling a flight of their beers.

Tampa – Cigar City Brewing

Charles of McCool Travel

One of the most fun ways to see Tampa is by visiting its local breweries. Tampa is chock full of several newcomers but Cigar City Brewing is the grandfather of Florida Gulf Coast craft beer places. Cigar City started brewing and selling in 2009, which is a lifetime ago for craft brewers. Like most Florida breweries, Cigar City has year-round cornerstone brews—Maduro and Guayabera are personal favorites—along with specialty releases and amazing seasonal batches. I love anything they make with tropical fruit, chili peppers, cinnamon, and/or aged in rum barrels.

Visit the Cigar City Brewing brewhouse on Spruce Street for the best selection and freshest offerings. The choice is always tough for me—savor a pint of Maduro or order a flight of several smaller pours for variety. When available, a Cigar City Brewing tour provides a fascinating behind the scenes look at the production facility along with fresh samples and a souvenir glass.

In addition to the main brewery, Cigar City has satellite locations at the Tampa International Airport and Amalie Arena. Publix and many other grocery and retail stores conveniently sell Cigar City Brewing products. Cheers!

West Palm Beach – Civil Society Brewing Co.

Amy of The Florida Travel Girl

If you are in the Palm Beach area, you cannot miss Civil Society Brewing Company! Originally opening in Jupiter, they now have another location in West Palm Beach where you can get their juicy brews. IPA lovers, especially New England IPA’s, will be in heaven here! However, they do make some pretty good stouts and Kolsch beers frequently too.

My absolute favorite beer they make is Fresh, which you can now find in cans around the state. This is the signature IPA for Civil Society and they offer different varieties frequently, such as Baby Fresh and Fresh Coconut. At the brewery, you can usually get this and a few other varieties in cans, as well as taste all their different brews with a pint or part of a flight.

Both breweries are a bit bare bones and have an industrial feel with an almost entirely indoor tap room. The beer more than makes up for this though and serious craft beer lovers need to have Civil Society on their brewery bucket list!
