The Hotel Northampton: Elegant Comfort In Northampton, Massachusetts
If you’re heading to Hampshire County, Massachusetts and are looking for Northampton accommodation, we recommend staying at The Hotel Northampton. This boutique hotel is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Northampton and offers its guests impeccable service and outstanding amenities.
Northampton Accommodation
Whether you’re in the area to shop, dine, or visit a loved one attending a nearby college, The Hotel Northampton is one of the best hotels in Hampshire County. Built in 1927, the hotel is a member of Historic Hotels of America and has hosted presidents, celebrities, and dignitaries.
As soon as we arrived, we were treated like royalty as well. We were greeted with smiles and offered assistance with our bags. Check-in went smoothly and we were told how to get to our suite. The warmth of everyone we talked to made us quickly forget how cold it was outside.
Rooms At The Hotel Northampton
The Hotel Northampton has 106 guestrooms and luxury suites. They are all beautifully decorated and elegant. We were on this trip through Hampshire County with our friend and fellow blogger Brianne of A Traveling Life. We shared the Residential Suite of the Residential Cottage which is behind the main hotel.
Inside were two queen beds, a living room (with a gas fireplace!), and a small kitchen that included a full-size refrigerator and basic dishware. Inside the bathroom we found terry robes and toiletries by Gilchrist and Soames.
The Hotel Northampton Amenities
The Hotel Northampton offers its guests many great amenities. There is complimentary WiFi and free parking (the parking lot is behind the hotel). For your convenience, there is also a 24-hour business center and a Fitness Center that’s open from 6am to 11pm. Additionally, guests can also enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast.
The Hotel Northampton Restaurants
The hotel has not one, but two award-winning restaurants: Coolidge Park Cafe and Wiggins Tavern. Coolidge Park Cafe is where the continental breakfast is served but they are also open for lunch and dinner. Wiggins Tavern is well known in Northampton and their Sunday Brunch Buffet was voted Best in the Valley by Valley Advocate readers. We didn’t get to dine at Wiggins Tavern during our stay, but the menu looks incredible and we definitely wouldn’t mind trying their legendary Baked Stuffed Jumbo Shrimp.
Location, Location, Location
If you’re looking for where to stay in Northampton, you really can’t find a better place than The Hotel Northampton. It’s in the middle of downtown, with shops, galleries, and restaurants all within a short walking distance. It’s also close to the highway, so if you’re coming from Boston it’s only a couple of hours away.
Also, the hotel is in what is called the Five College Community. That means that if you’re looking for hotels near Mount Holyoke College, Amherst, Hampshire, Smith Colleges, or the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, The Hotel Northampton’s location is perfect.
Final Thoughts On The Hotel Northampton
We really enjoyed our stay at The Hotel Northampton. Not only was the service impeccable, but it’s location made it easy to explore the town’s attractions. It really is the best in Northampton accommodation and we definitely recommend staying there.

**A big thank you to The Hotel Northampton and Visit Hampshire County for arranging our stay. Although we were guests of the hotel, as always, all opinions are our own.**
It was such a lovely stay! I’m so glad we got to check it out together.
Me too! 😀
Wow what a cool historic hotel! The atrium area looks and sounds so amazing. And it’s cool you get your own fireplace. Cool place to stay!
Yes, it was a bit chilly so the fireplace was very much appreciated lol
Sure looks like a cozy and classy place. Loved the classic fireplace the most. Wouldnt mind checking in for a few days:)
I think you’d really like it!
The fireplace is a great touch! Definitely adds to that small-town New England vibe. Seems like a great option for folks visiting colleges in the area.
Hi Carrie! I think the location is one of the hotel’s best qualities. 🙂
I loved the decor. The atrium looks like a dream and the fireplace makes the room so cozy! I will have to check the Hotel Northampton when I’m in the area.
The room looks very spacious and comfortable. Having its own fitness center makes it easy to get a little exercise in when you’re on the road.
Great looking hotel with a strong New England influence. The rooms are spacious and the amenities particularly the fitness centre are excellent. Mouth drooling breakfast – boy, I can live here.
The Hotel Northampton sounds like great accommodation – I’m loving boutique hotels atm because it means they’re interesting as opposed to the regular chain hotels which are so cookie cutter these days! But historic hotels are always so beautiful and interesting! I love that you can get rooms with kitchen facilities, as we usually do our own cooking. Though it sounds like the resturants onsite are top quality – thanks for the info!
Northampton is a great choice – I love hotels where you also have a kitchenette for preparing your own meals! The place looks very cozy indeed.
LOVE love love Hotel Northampton! As you know, Lindsay and I got to stay there over the summer and we had an amazing time. Treated like royalty there for sure and I wouldn’t hesitate to return!
The atrium is absolutely beautiful! Love all the greens paired with the white and that pop of yellow from the cushions. The location sounds amazingly perfect too. I think I know where I’ll be staying if I ever visit Northhampton!
The Hotel Northampton Hotel is a great choice to stay with family, the hotel looking so beautiful my opinion that every one stay there.
