Street art in Reykjavik is growing in popularity. Different scenes and styles can be seen all over Iceland’s capital city and it was fun to look for murals as we explored the area.
Reykjavik can have stark contrasts of bright colors and gray facades; minimalist design and ornate styles. It’s interesting to see that a city known for Hallgrímskirkja Church, with its sleek and modern design, can also have such cool and gritty street art. We even recognized some of the murals’ painters from pieces they’ve done in Miami’s neighborhood of Wynwood (an area well known for its street art).
Below are only a few of the pieces we saw throughout our time in Reykjavik…
Have you visited Reykjavik? What do you think of its street art? We’d love to read your thoughts in the comments below! 🙂
